Burleigh Heads State School tracks student’s learning from Prep to Year 6. We provide intervention programs for children experiencing difficulties.
In Year One, we identify any students not achieving maximum potential, through our Screening Process. These students’ needs are then catered for, through various specialist programs.
From Prep to Year 3, we implement support in both Literacy and Numeracy. Our focus is to provide students with opportunities to develop oral language skills, auditory and visual training and phonological awareness.
From Year 4 to 6, students with difficulties are able to work at their own level in small groups. Focus is on enhancing independent reading and writing skills, as well as attaining real life maths skills.
Alongside these programs, we have a volunteer program that provides children with a one on one reading opportunity.
